Memorial Day in NH

We normally go to my Dad's cottage on the Sunday of a long holiday weekend.  That was the plan for this year as well...until it snowed!!!  We decided to postpone a day in the hopes of decent weather.  We flip flopped our plans and visited the cemetaries on Sunday instead.

We headed out bright and early (around 8:30).  We made our usual stops along the way.  We only ran into one problem...Sammy screaming!  He was having some kind of issue that he couldn't explain.  He just screamed!  The only thing that made him happy was me turning around in my seat and looking at him.  I had to ride in this position for about 45 minutes.  When we finally "landed" at my dad's, Sammy couldn't explain what the problem was.  It was so weird!

They loved playing outside and it was so nice to see the sun!
Dinner Bell!

Memorial Day Zoo Trip

The weather forecast for this holiday weekend was pretty bleak.  Plans were made and changed and rearranged.  We found ourselves with an open Saturday.  I figured we could go to the zoo!  We have a membership and Dave had never been.  Also, many exhibits are indoors and we would be sheltered from the rain.

On our way home, we figured we'd stop at the Hilltop Steakhouse for supper.  Nate continues to have an irrational fear of stuffed, mounted animals on the wall.  He had a panic attack when he saw the buffalo near our table.  We had to be moved to the other side of the restaurant!  He was nervous that it was going to talk the whole time (Thanks, Bugaboo Creek!).

Look who's 7!

With a tear in my eye, I watched my "baby" boy turn 7!  I still can't get used to the fact that he's not 6.  How does this happen?  Anyway, without getting all sappy, here's the low-down on his b-day day...

I found this fun balloon avalanche on pinterest so I decided to try it out.  It was a bit nerve wracking because I was afraid he'd have to get up and go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.  We woke him up at 9 and made him go just in case.

Then we got to work!  Dave was all "engineerical" and had to take over because my slope didn't equal mx+b or something.  I was the official tape tearer and balloon passer.

So funny that he crawled under it instead of crashing through it!
He went back and forth a few times and then he finally crashed onto his bed.

Then downstairs for presents...

A lego radio, Legos, Cars and a raincoat...Yay!

Then off to school and home and off to...
Red Robin!!!

Then home for cake!
Eli requested a "whoopie pie" cake.
This was my attempt...

Do you think he's excited?

Make a wish!

We told Eli that it was his job to cut the cake for everybody.
He loved it!

Ben thought it was delish!

This is how Eli cut the cake!
Close!

Natey said "yum!"

Sammy loved the frosting!

Still cutting!

What a great day!
Love you, buddy!
